Leatherworking

Leatherworking Basics

This profession is very simple in its nature but essential for many professions such as Armoring, Weaponsmithing, and Engineering. With the help of Leatherworking, raw leather from animals is processed into various types of leather. In order to process the leather, you need to go to a Tannery in a settlement.

In every settlement this building has at least Tier 2. If you want to produce higher tiered items, you may have to look for a settlement where this building is more advanced.

Leveling Leatherworking: 1-200

For each item you produce you get experience points. For items with a required skill of 0 or more, you will receive significantly less experience points compared to an item that requires skill 150. Theoretically you can increase your progress with every item. The cheapest item is not always the cheapest solution!

1-50

391 x Coarse Leather

Requires Tannery Tier 2

With Coarse Leather you learn the first 50 levels and you need Rawhide from animals. Coarse Leather is also used for quests in city projects and is bought by players at the trading post.

50-100

805 x Rugged Leather

Requires Tannery Tier 3

As soon as you reach level 50 you can produce Rugged Leather for the first time. For this you need 4 Coarse Leather as well as Tannin, Rested Tannin or Aged Tannin , which you can find in chests in the world or produce yourself via the Leatherworking profession from level 50.

Since the amount of Coarse Leather from step 1-50 will not be enough for you, you will still have to make a lot of Coarse Leather at 51-100. You will advance more slowly, but you will still get experience. The experience points always increase a bit more per level.

100-150

713 x Layered Leather

Requires Tannery Tier 4

From level 100 you can already produce the first Layered Leather. However, thick animal skin is more difficult to obtain, which is why the prices at the trading post are very high.

As an additive you need tannin (Tannin, Rested Tannin or Aged Tannin) which you can produce yourself or collect from storage containers.

150-200

1157 x Infused Leather

Requires Tannery Tier 5

Once you are at a level of 150, you can make Infused Leather. For this you need Resistant Animal Skin and Layered Leather.

As an additive you also need tannin (Tannin, Rested Tannin or Aged Tannin) which you can produce yourself or collect from storage containers.

200

Runic Leather

Requires Tannery Tier 5

From a level of 200 you can craft Epic Leather, which is needed for very valuable armor and tools. Besides Infused Leather you need Smolderhide and Scarhide which you get very rarely for skinning animals.

As an add-on you will need Aged Tannin which you can make yourself or collect from supply containers.

Leatherworking Items

For some materials there are two ways to make them, which is why they are listed twice in the recipes overview in the game. Different materials are used, one lower level and one higher level. So you have a choice and can craft with the materials that are available to you in larger quantities.

Origin of the materials

Procurement of raw materials

To upgrade your profession from 1-200 you need Raw Leather, Thick Animal Skin and Resistant Animal Skin. With the profession “Tracking and Skinning” you can acquire these materials yourself. The upgrade of “Tracking and Skinning” 1-200 is very time-consuming, but you get a large amount of leather. As a bonus there is meat which you can use for cooking.

On NewWorld Map you can look for the animals you want on the map, so you know where to go to farm.

With these materials you can then ideally expand your Leatherworking.
Theoretically, you can also buy all materials at the trading post, but you will notice that especially Iron Hide and Rawhide will be in great demand and expensive.
